Bailey is a young girl who lives in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. She loves the ocean, sea creatures, and the stories she imagines by the seashore. Most of all, Bailey loves dolphins. She longs to see them swimming in nature, especially after her grandmother’s exciting stories. Stories of how the Atlantic white-sided dolphins visited the Maritimes not long ago.
When Bailey’s parents go to Hawaii, they bring her back a unique gift: a stuffed dolphin named Rikki. Rikki has a special tag on her right fin that tells Bailey she is no ordinary toy. Bailey introduces Rikki to the Northumberland Strait, and the two of them go on all kinds of amazing adventures. But when winter nears, Bailey can’t go to the ocean anymore. How will she and Rikki continue to have adventures? Will imagination, and love, be enough to see Bailey through the long, cold months? The main character “Bailey” in our children’s book is just like my eldest daughter, Ashley. Not only did my daughter imagine and create this character, she became her. Together with Ashley’s fun-loving characters and my story line, this book came to fruition. With the help of all my children we brought this story to life. The story takes place in a Canadian maritime province, with a young girl named Bailey Hatley and her extra-ordinary toy Rikki. Imagination and love can be unstoppable and children will fall in love with this heart-warming story and want to read it over and over. The illustrations are amazing and truly bring depth and animation!”
